The Sumedang Demo-Plots at Jatigede (2024) and Ujungjaya (2025) focus on testing the intercropping of Pongamia (Malapari) with sorghum varieties, specifically Bioguma at Jatigede and both Bioguma and Binex at Ujungjaya. The Jatigede plot was established in February 2024 to evaluate ratoon potential. The Ujungjaya plot (7,500 m2) was established in February 2025 later, in September 2025, a second planting phase expanded the total area by and additional 7,500 m2. It serves as an adaptation trial site and is part of the Sorghum Value Chain Study collaboration, intended to optimize sorghum cultivation and evaluate the resulting biomass for bioenergy product such as biopellets and bioethanol.
